Woohoo, we just completed our first season of farmers markets, Fridays and Saturdays, and we had a blast meeting all of  you. It's the kind of experience that had us asking ourselves "why didn't we do this sooner"?
Even though the market season has ended, we are still available for your sweet, savory and pickled needs. Several of you have already reached out to us, for ways to purchase your favorite items even though the markets are closed. Simple solution- at your convenience, email me and we'll be happy to deliver you what you need.
We may also be doing another market in Monticello, on October 19th.  Hopefully, the weather will have cooled and you can be thinking about your holiday gift giving needs.  Check out the website for details.
We will definitely be selling at the Deer Festival in Monticello, on November 2nd. We've heard what a great event it is and we can't wait to be a part of it.

Pepper time

We really love peppers and grow everything from Habanero to Sweet Banana Peppers. We make our unique jams and jellies but also make pepper sauce for our winter greens. We roast peppers in the oven or grill. Most of our peppers will continue producing until the first frost and a few have overwintered and are producing for the second year in a row.
** Don't forget last markets of the season Friday, September 27 and Saturday, September 28.
Come out and replenish your supplies, we'd love to see you!

We had a very nice weekend harvest of hot bananas, bell peppers and okra.
We will certainly enjoy eating these during the next week but are also busy replenishing our stock of produce so you can enjoy them too.  Pepper Jelly.....Pickled Okra.....Pickled Hot Bananas!

The markets are drawing to a close

Another good weekend at the markets, it's hard to believe this adventure that started in May has only 4 days left, two Fridays in Forsyth and two Saturdays in Monticello.
We've made so many friends and heard so many stories, the experience has been priceless!
With that being said, we hope you plan on visiting us in those remaining four days to stock up on your favorites or try something new like our Apple Pie Jam or Pickled Okra. Both are limited in quantity and will sell fast.
We hope you continue to access this website for updates and communicate with us about how we can help you with your holiday gift giving needs. We are here for you.
Need a stocking stuffer gift, we can do that. Need a unique gift for a neighbor, employee or boss, we can do that too.

September

September is here and eventually the cool fall breezes will arrive as well. Looking at 97-99 the next week  makes it challenging for our plants.
Today we canned over 20 Piccalilli Relishes (chow chow), 10 loaves of Zucchini Bread, 15 Pear Preserves, and Pickled Okra. It was a busy evening preparing for the markets this weekend to say the least.
Sadly, the Forsyth and Monticello Markets will end the last weekend of the month. We have always experienced a brisk business in the Fall as the holiday season approaches. We hope our new friends stay in touch/call on us to help for their holiday needs such as gift giving and entertaining. Jams and Jellies are great for stocking stuffers/eating during family gatherings.
Just check over on the right side of this page the list of items available. Think of your future holiday get togethers and let us supply the jam and jelly or pickled item.

New Items- Pepper Sauce, Pear preserves and Piccalilli Relish

Here at Backyard Garden Creations, we are always looking for suggestions and new ideas of what we can grow and then create for you. We had several requests early in the Spring about pepper sauce and relishes. Next week, we will bring to the markets Cayenne Pepper Sauce and Piccalilli Relish. Piccalilli is the English cousin to Chow Chow. We used our peppers, green tomatoes and herbs to create these new offerings. Pepper sauce, of course, is great on the greens that will be arriving in the Fall. Piccalilli Relish is great on burgers and sandwiches but also goes well with vegetables. Come out and visit next weekend if you are in the area. EAT LOCAL!
